2016 Recipient: Award of Excellence
Sensei Jamie Zimron has been very busy the last four decades, spreading joy, passion, and connection through martial arts practice on a global scale. Her work connects people across boundaries through Aikido training, replacing ignorance and hatred with camaraderie and friendship. From the former Soviet Union to East Africa, crossing Israel and Palestine, bringing together onto one mat Aikido students from Greece, Ethiopia, Kenya, Jordan, Cyprus, and many other places, she works to promote peaceful resolution to conflict through connection.
Jamie Sensei holds the rank of 5th dan in Aikido. She founded the Women’s Aikido School in San Francisco, was among the earliest organizers of camps that would lead to PAWMA, and is a co-founder and board member of AWMAI.
She is an LPGA teaching professional, and founder of KiAi Golf. In addition, she is a Somatic Psychotherapist and Master Bodyworker. No matter how far she travels, maw many corners of the earth she reaches, Sensei Zimron returns to share her talents at multiple Special Training Conferences, PAWMA camps, and AWMAI conferences.
