Fight if You Must: the Fourth Finger of Empowerment Self-Defense
July 25 @ 1:30 PM - 2:50 PM CDT
If someone is hurting us, and our attempts to stop the violence before it gets physical have failed, we have a right to fight back. In this session, veteran ESD teacher Aileen Geary will lead participants through the sequence of basic physical self-defense skills taught in Thousand Waves’ ESD workshops, beginning with stance, weapon formation, appropriate targeting, and body mechanics. Participants will practice escapes from grabs and chokes, hand and elbow strikes, kicks, ground fighting, and escapes from pins.
Whether you’re a student wanting to learn and/or strengthen your physical self-defense skills, or an ESD instructor who wants to see the progression Thousand Waves has created to teach physical ESD skills, this class offers something for you.
