Applying ESD Tactics to ICE Resistance: Know your Rights, De-escalate, Resist Intimidation
July 25 @ 8:00 AM - July 26 @ 1:00 PM CDT
As ICE and federal law enforcement agencies invade our communities, Know Your Rights trainings proliferate. Having the facts about judicial warrants, constitutional rights, and private property is important, but so is having the ability to assert those rights in the face of coercion and intimidation. The tools and principles of empowerment self-defense have an important role to play in these initiatives. We give community members practical, trauma-informed, experiential training that prepares them to assert their rights under stress. This workshop presents IMPACT Boston’s experiential Know Your Rights training and gives ESD practitioners strategies for collaborating with activists and advocates.
