Soft Physical Skills: For Workplace Programs or Whenever Teaching Strikes is Not an Option
July 25 @ 8:00 AM - July 26 @ 1:00 PM CDT
In this class, we will practice and analyze the non-contact physical skills we teach in our PAVE 35-hour Human Safety Skills course for library staffers. These include three levels of assertive stance and voice; footwork drills that lead to better monitoring of worrisome situations and positioning for safety; practice of physical boundary setting when someone gets too close; deflection and removal of unwanted touches; guide-alongs to facilitate moving someone to a safer location; and even warm and loving ways to transform a hug into a more comfortable greeting for non-huggers.
