Model ESD Course Opportunity at Thousand Waves

Attention, aspiring NWMAF-certified instructors (and those who would simply like to experience a longer-form ESD class!)
At the NWMAF Regional Training in Chicago in July, Thousand Waves Martial Arts & Self-Defense Center offered a four-hour Model Empowerment Self-Defense (ESD) course for aspiring NWMAF-certified instructors and others who wanted to take a deep dive into Empowerment Self-Defense. As a follow-up to those classes, Thousand Waves is offering NWMAF members an opportunity to experience its 12-hour Model ESD course.
If you’re interested in teaching ESD, or you’re already teaching and looking for new ideas, or you have experience in teaching short ESD programs and are wondering how to expand what you do into a longer program, this is for you. Or if you live in an area that doesn’t offer a long-form ESD course, and want to participate as a student, take a field trip to Chicago!
Thousand Waves will hold its ESD 12-hour course on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, from noon to 6 pm on both days. Nancy Lanoue, NWMAF Certified ESD Instructor, and Pat Broughton, Thousand Waves Self-Defense Coordinator, will be teaching the course.
You can find more information and register here. If you don’t live in Chicago and would be helped by hosted free housing, Thousand Waves will do their best to secure that for you. Please let Pat Broughton (esd@thousandwaves.org) know ASAP if that is something that you would like. Also, if the $225 fee is an obstacle, email esd@thousandwaves.org to request a scholarship application for sliding scale consideration. Thousand Waves does not want cost to be an obstacle, again particularly if you have to travel a distance to get to the course.
Thousand Waves is promoting this course vigorously and hopes to fill it. They will hold spots for you and others in the wider ESD/NWMAF community until October 1; after that date, they can’t guarantee you a spot, so if you’re interested, register before October 1!
